I have had this old radio sitting in my basement for a very long time. I do know in all these years I have never seen another like it. So I guess that's why I kept it this long.
I would guess that the radio was made from the 1935 to 1939 era. The cabinet appears to be untouched. It has some area's where small pieces of veneer are gone or loose, some fading, and finish wear. It is very solid though.I call this one my King of Patina. The size is 18" long x 9.5" tall x 7 deep. The cabinet is complimented with a waterfall front, big speaker grill and a big 5.5 dial. The dial has many colors and lights up nicely in a dark room.
As you can see in the first photo, the radio has the green "Magic Tuning Eye". The eye works as it should when tuning in stations indicating signal strength. The dial face is in very good condition and has the winged design pointer. The three knobs are functional and tight to their shafts. Additionally, the radio has a metal name plate up front stating "General". There is a new speaker grill cloth, new dial lamps (4x), new AC Power cord, and new Filter/Audio capacitors installed. The 5 tubes have been tested and the remaining components were checked & replaced if needed. This is a wonderful example of the American Radio Industry waiting for you to display in your favorite place in the home or office. The radio plays and receives stations. Extra Antenna wire will need to be attached to the rear Antenna Pig-Tail for proper performance and reception. Performance will vary based on your location and signal strength. Thank you very much for stopping in! Please take a look at my other radio's I have listed.
