For your consideration today is this very nice 1939 Emerson 6 tube + Ballast radio made by the Emerson Radio Co. I refinished the top of the cabinet fading etc.
Last week and I decided to leave the rest of the it alone due to it looking so nice. A few bumps and small rubs here and there. As you can see by the photo's, it looks great for its age. This is one of Emerson's very popular model CQ 286. It has the sought after and very collectable "Ingraham" designed cabinet and it is in excellent condition. (pls refer to the photo's) The radio really shows off its maple and walnut veneers, colors + and all of the wood grains are beautiful. The big framed in dial face is excellent with the airplane designed pointer. Four functional push buttons and the three original "Bullet" style knobs are tight to their shafts and function as they should.Ist knob from left to right is the On/Off/Vol, 2nd is the Tone, and the third is the Tuner. The radio has an Antenna pigtail at the rear and will need a few feet of wire attached for proper performance and reception. Performance will depend on your location and signal strength. There is a new AC power cord, new dial lamp, new Dial cover, and new Filter/Audio capacitors installed. The 6 tubes have been tested and the remaining components checked & replaced if needed.
A very nice piece of the American Radio Industry waiting for you to display in your favorite place in the home or office. The radio plays and performs great with no issues. The speaker has very good volume, tone, and clarity. Thank you very much for stopping in! Size : 16" long x 10" tall x 8.5 deep.
