This is a museum quality set of SIX Old Hickory furniture pieces that have been maintained indoors and not exposed to the elements. This is not grey colored as is found on many pieces left out doors and exposed to the sun and harsh elements. T is classic old hickory from the halcyon days of Indiana furniture making.

The suite consists of 4 full sized arm chairs, 1 gait leg table with multiple stiles and 1 sofa with a small, unusual right sided, small flip up tablet arm also shown in the photos. The cane is open weave and there are no known broken strips. The fronts of the seats are protected by an original factory installed strip of solid wood as shown in the photos. The patina is slightly yellow/orange finish typical of the period.

There are two very small flaws in the table top as noted in the photos. One of the chair back supports is slightly loose, otherwise all the joints are tight. There is no damage from moisture to the bottoms of the legs as found in many pieces left on lawns during the season.

The pieces are branded'Old Hickory Martinsville Indiana' as was typical for the period and shown in the photos. The rough dimensions in inches are as follows.

4 Armchairs: 21 deep, 27 wide at greatest extent, 36 high. 1 Sofa: 64 wide, 28 deep. 1 Gait leg table: 30 high, 36 wide, 44 opened, 18 with both leaves down.

These are true collectors pieces. I can estimate the era as pre 1950 Martinsville, Indiana. The Old Hickory Company is believed to have changed its branding from the oval form you see here to a rectangular form in 1950. It was in one family until the estate liquidated in approximately 1979.
