I bought these from an older gentleman from Montana, he had collected various western american items, I don't know the history of this pair, from what I understand he bought them as a collectors item at the time. I don't know the metal composition.
Each is stamped CROCKET and each also has the letter S stamped on the outside end I don't know the significance, I was guessing maybe size? Each measures just under 2.75 wide on the inside at the back. They are approximately 3 deep from the open are to the inside curve. They measure a little under 5.5 from the open end to the end of the rowel (I had to look that name up). Each has applied panels on the outside that are decorated with hand stamped or engraved designs (I don't know if those are actually silver, they aren't marked as sterling etc).
That engraved side panel is actually two panels that meet at the intersection of the arm and rowel box (there is a vertical seam between the two panels), you can see how those arm panel has metal backfill near the intersection to give it a smoother or less acute angle where they meet (I take that as a sign of build quality). The rowels are just over 1 in diameter. Besides naturally occurring patina, both of the spurs look good without damage (neither has been cleaned at all, the chrome looks good, some scratches and wear but nothing abnormal).Both of these had been stored with a rubber connector that loops around the rowel box and the side terminal buttons, I unhooked that rubber strap on the side with the decorated button for the photos. As you can see the leather strap assemblies have their original as found patina, some dust etc. Both of the straps have a engraved or decorated button on the sides that would match the decorated side panels (those decorated buttons are just under 7/8, I didn't undo the leather to see if they had back markings). To give some idea of the length or size of the leather strap assemblies, as you see them in the photos, each measures about 10 from the buttons on each of the two opposite spurs each strap connects one side of each spur for storage.
