In January, 2019 we started the slow but satisfying process of listing Eytan's inventory on-line so that he can semi-retire and focus on custom designs. Please check back as we're listing new items every week -- all fine jewelry in a range of styles and all priced with an emphasis on fairness and realism! This curious old soldier features an oval emerald held in place by the longest prongs we've ever seen. We think maybe this ring originally had a different, larger (or deeper) center stone, so that when the emerald was set, there was extra prong and the lazy jeweler didn't trim them back.
One thing's for certain: that emerald ain't going anywhere. And that emerald is very included and very roughly cut. The table facets are wearing down a bit, so if this emerald is a replacement, it was replaced a long time ago. As for the diamonds, two are single cuts, so they're clearly replacements.
The other four diamonds are very rough: they're roughly cushion-shaped, roughly old mine cut. The face of the ring is about 6mm tall. The width (the distance between the outermost edges of the outermost diamonds) is 11mm (0.4). Knife-edged, tapered band is 1.2mm wide and 1mm thick. Total stone weight is estimated at 0.36 carats (split even between diamonds and emerald).
The diamonds are roughly 3mm and the emerald measures 4.5mm x 3.5mm. Ring weight is 1.8 grams, so rose gold weight is 1.73 grams. The item "Circa 1900 14K Rose Gold Ring SZ 6 w Oval Emerald & Old Mine Cut Diamonds, 1.8g" is in sale since Sunday, July 25, 2021.
