Gustavo Martinez-Palos is a Mexican painter born in Guadalajara on April 21, 1941. From an early age he studied arts until he got his bachelor's degree. Through the years he became a self-taught painter. His teachers and their brushstrokes and many shades of vibrant colors influenced the composition/form of his paintings on canvas.
Gustavo has managed to achieve a personal style in his many works, as well as the vivacious expression of Mexican art. During the 60´s Gustavo met one of his biggest influences, Jose Maria Servin who promptly realized the young artist´s natural talent and encouraged him to continue studying under his watchful eye. Martinez has gone through different stages where he has done originals and variations inspired by Diego Rivera, Rufino Tamayo, Picasso, Miro and Fernando Botero among others. His work was exported overseas, and it has been displayed in Galleries, Hotels, Clubs, Restaurants and Retail Stores. His painting style is a lavish sample of excellence.
He enjoys the careful work in detail, creating the handcrafted flavor which defines the folklore of Mexico. Martinez's use of intense colors in a very contemporary style has predominated over more modern topics.
