Antique Vintage Eyeglasses Spectacles Old Circa 1910 Or Before. I found these spectacles in an abandoned storage unit. The previous owner of the unit took meticulous care of everything, and infact had many items from this era that I will be listing. These spectacles are in really good condition considering the age of them. The hinges and screws appear to all be in working order and complete.
The lenses appear to be in good condition and not crackbor broken from what I can tell. See the pictures for the best description. These specific spectacles belonged to a Dr Benjamin Gleeson, who was an oculist and aurist in Danville, Illinois in the year 1910.
More than 100 years ago! If you "google" his name, you can find a little more personal information about him. He wasnt anybody famous, but I think it's cool to know the history and at least part of the story, if nothing else, behind some of these older artifacts. I do my best to give an accurate description of any item I post. However, all information is to the best of my knowledge. That means every once in a while I may be wrong. If you are a history buff, or even if you just like to see or read about old things, checkout some of my other listings. This particular storage unit was crammed full of pre 1900s stuff from the previous owners ancestors and a lot of early to mid 1900's jewelry, clothing, tech items from that era, and a lot of really neat World War 2 memorabilia/pictures/personal letters/journals from that time of his life.
