Antique Georgian Imperial Topaz & Diamond Ring. A truly spectacular ring, that is even more remarkable and beautiful in person. The old cut central golden imperial topaz is stunning, it has a deep molton honey colour with excellent clarity and set in 18ct gold in with a crimped open backed setting. The topaz is surrounded by 14 old mine cut diamonds in an open set oval design.
The diamonds are each encased in silver with a closed back, secured in a crimped setting typical of the Georgian era. Each diamond has been hand cut and therefore each one differs from the next, they are not uniform, which adds to the authenticity and charm. The ring has trifurcated shoulders and the band has a partially engraved shank. Due to it's size it may possibly be a conversion from a brooch. It would have been worn in the evening, on special occasions, and would not have gone unnoticed in the candlelight.
What a way to have displayed the owner's status, if only it could talk! If you are a collector of antique jewellery and are looking for a bold statement piece, then this ring will not disappoint. Diamonds: 14 diamonds totalling approximately 2.25cts.
Ring dimensions: 28mm x 21mm. Topaz: 9.9mm approx 2.20ct. Size: UK Q, EU 58, USA 8.5. The ring has a fitting inside which allows the ring to sit comfortably against the finger and prevent it from moving around as it is top heavy, it also supports the shank adjoining the ring.
Some signs of wear commensurate with age and use. One outer diamond in the 6 o'clock position has a small chip which looks like it occured when the diamond was being set, visible through a jeweller's loupe. The ring will be supplied in a new presentation ring box.The item "Antique 18ct Georgian Imperial Topaz Old Cut Diamond 2.25ct Ring 18ct Gold" is in sale since Wednesday, February 17, 2021.
