Vintage old wood antique tube radio Philco Mdl 40-120 Stunning piece here
This is the 1939 Philco tube radio and it is super gorgeous. This is the highly sought after model 40-120C. This gorgeous little "put anywhere" radio is 11.5" long x 6.5" tall x 6.5 deep. The cabinet is in beautiful condition and I just refinished it.
The front of the cabinet has a very nice design to the veneers with maple veneer inlays and nice speaker grill and the top edges are rounded. On top of the radio which really catches the eye is its functional Bakelite handle with a brass center stripe and wonderful wood grains.
The dial face is in excellent condition and the red airplane design pointer works as it should. The three "Bullet" style knobs are excellent and have been cleaned/resealed. There is a new dial cover, new dial lamp, new AC Power cord, and new Filter/Audio capacitors installed.
The 6 tubes have been tested and the remaining components were checked & replaced if needed. Also there is a built in "Loop" Antenna that receives stations very well. No need for a bunch of wires behind the radio! This is a wonderful example of the American Radio Industry waiting for you to display in your favorite place in the home or office. The radio plays and receives stations very well.
The speaker is in excellent condition and has very good volume, tone, and clarity. Performance will vary depending on your signal strength and location. Thank you very much for stopping in!
